An Eau de Parfum from 2025, created by Japanese perfumer Nanako Ogi for the Chinese niche brand DOCUMENTS.

The story behind the scent

The Chinese name of the scent is 杉间, meaning "Among the cedars". Inter Cedar is part of the sixth season of DOCUMENTS, called "Tree" (大树, "The great tree"), dedicated to trees and their quiet strength. The idea is to feel yourself standing among tall trunks while light filters through the branches and the air smells of resin and greenery.

In China, cedar and cypress are trees that symbolise long life, resilience and calm. That is why the scent does not try to impress with noise. It makes you slow down and take a breath.

DOCUMENTS (闻献) was founded in 2021 in Shanghai and quickly became one of the most talked about niche brands in China. Its Chinese name sounds like "scents and gifts worth remembering". The brand combines Chinese history and literature with a minimalist style it calls "Bold Zen" (禅酷). Its perfumes are concentrated, and the bottles with their distinctive square cap are instantly recognisable. Outside China they are almost impossible to find.
