The Replica collection by Maison Margiela recreates familiar moments and places. The label on each bottle looks like a museum tag and describes the memory the scent carries. For By the Fireplace it is Chamonix, 1971, a snowy day in the Alps spent by the fire in a mountain chalet.

Feel and longevity

The opening is spicy and slightly fresh with clove, pink pepper and orange blossom. Soon after come the chestnut and smoky guaiac wood, the heart of the fragrance, which last for hours. The base is soft and sweet with vanilla and balsam and stays on the skin for 6 to 8 hours. Projection is moderate and close to the body, so 3 to 4 sprays are right. Best worn in autumn and winter, day and evening.
