An Eau de Parfum from 2009, created by perfumer Randa Hammami for the luxury Collection Extraordinaire by Van Cleef & Arpels.

The story behind the scent

Few people know that vanilla comes from an orchid. Vanilla pods are the fruit of the Vanilla planifolia orchid, whose flower blooms for only a few hours. That is why on plantations every flower is pollinated by hand, one by one, which makes vanilla one of the most expensive spices in the world. Orchidée Vanille is dedicated to this very flower and to a journey through the Indian Ocean and Asia, where the most fragrant vanilla grows.

The scent is part of the Collection Extraordinaire, the niche line of Van Cleef & Arpels created in 2009. It is inspired by nature and by the house's flower and garden jewellery. Van Cleef & Arpels was founded in 1896 in Paris and is still one of the most famous jewellery houses in the world, with a boutique on Place Vendôme.

How it wears

Orchidée Vanille opens juicy and slightly fruity, but quickly turns to vanilla. At first it is powdery and floral, and over time it becomes sweeter, creamier and cosier, with soft musk at the end. It is not a loud scent and does not fill the room, but it lasts all day and even longer on clothes. Ideal for autumn and winter, day and evening.
