Void is a scent of silence. Picture an early morning in a mountain tea house in China: steam rising from a porcelain cup, the smell of freshly steeped tea leaves, sage and a few white jasmine blossoms. Nothing extra, just calm. An Eau de Parfum created in 2022 by perfumer David Huang for the Chinese niche house To Summer.

It opens with green notes, sage and bergamot, fresh and slightly bitter like the first sip of tea. Oolong tea, Damask rose and Chinese jasmine unfold in the heart, while amber leaves a soft, warm and clean trail. A unisex scent for people who love minimalism and want a perfume that feels like a second skin.

The story behind the scent

The label of Void carries a single character: 空, "emptiness". In Chinese philosophy and Buddhism, emptiness is not absence but open space, where the mind calms down and everything becomes clear. The full Chinese name 空境研茶 can be translated as "tea in the realm of stillness". The scent is inspired by the Chinese tea ceremony, where preparing tea is a slow ritual of calm and presence.

Tea is at the heart of To Summer. The brand, founded in 2018 in Beijing, was the first to extract a Pu'er tea absolute from Jingmai Mountain in Yunnan, together with the French company Robertet in Grasse. The leaves are picked only in spring, and about 1,000 kilograms of tea leaves are needed for one kilogram of absolute. That is why To Summer is considered one of the brands that understand the scent of tea best. Its perfumes are sold almost only in China and Hong Kong and are a real rarity in Europe.

How it wears

Void opens cool and herbal, with the bitterness of freshly steeped tea leaves. Gradually rose and jasmine make it softer and more floral, while amber adds warmth without weight.
